The Story
Nigeria has announced its first case of Ebola Bundibugyo virus disease (BVD), becoming the fifth country to be affected by an outbreak that has left thousands dead. Officials said that the patient is a woman who had travelled from Uganda. She began feeling unwell and sought care at a private clinic in Abuja on 11 October and was confirmed positive for BVD on 20 October. It is the first Ebola case in Nigeria in 12 years.
